Growing Up

Omphile Magasa-Mnuna grew up in a village of Mabeskraal outside Rustenburg in the  North West province with her grandparents. Growing up as a grandchild of the most trusted baker in the village, Omphile had no choice but to learn baking tricks from her grandmother from an very early age as this was a daily chore in her home.

A DIY Mom

After making her daughters 1st birthday cake in 2016, a high school mate suggested to her that she should consider baking as a side hustle as she was always creative in school, in 2017 she then started selling biscuits and scones and many birthday cakes to the public.

 

The Birth of Baked  By Opy 

After loosing her job in Nov 2017 as an IT specialist, Omphile was frustrated as she was a new mom, and of course had some debt to be paid off. With every job application came a regret response which led to more frustration and tears. Her then boyfriend, now husband then said to her, "Well, the job ended because you were probably too busy baking, so why not continue?" And so, the rest is history...
